About OKSCA

The Olympia Kato Sister City Association was formed in 1981 as the “Olympia Sister City Association” to participate in cultural education and exchange with Yashiro, Hyogo, Japan. For many years OKSCA was named the “Olympia Yashiro Sister City Association”, until March 2006 when Yashiro, Takino, and Tojo merged to create the city of Kato. Since then, the association has been named the “Olympia Kato Sister City Association” or OKSCA (pronounced “oak sa”).

Our purpose is to foster good will, fellowship, and cultural appreciation between the cities of Olympia and Kato.

“For over forty years, our cities have been friends, in times of great joy and great difficulty”
